Knowing what to wear, where to shoot and visualizing your engagement photos are key to capturing amazing ones. These tips help to make sure we do get those perfect portraits and ensure you are prepared for the session, rain or shine!
GO WHERE YOU LOVE! We always want our portraits to reflect our couples personality, shared interests, history etc.. If you guys met somewhere significant, have somewhere that is special to you personally or just love craft beer and would love some photos at a favorite Brewery, lets do it! I am always up for anything!
THINK ABOUT YOUR SURROUNDINGS Try to make sure your clothes fit where we’ll be shooting! If we plan on going to a park or particularly somewhere with a lot of nature then trying to stick to natural earthy tones as they always turn out amazing on camera. If in the city we usually like to have you imagine if you were on a nice date down in the city, what would you wear to occasion. That always makes things easier and don't overthink your clothing options.
VISUALIZE YOUR PORTRAIT(S) FRAMED If you plan on hanging any portraits in your home think about where it might be hung, what frame, etc.. Do you want a good bit of greenery in your photos? Cityscape, waterfront? It’s all about what you’d like to see when we deliver the final photos and what you'd like to see printed! I always have great ideas for locations so let me now if you are unsure or need any ideas, I got you!
MATCH THE VIBE! If one person plans on wearing a suit be sure to match that style to not look unnatural. Wearing jeans and a t-shirt while your significant other wears a suit usually looks a little off!
SCHEDULE DURING THE RIGHT SEASON Think about when and where your Wedding is. If you are having an outdoor Fall Wedding we’ll make sure to schedule when the leaves start to turn. If you have a winter wedding, lets plan for a snow day! Having that synergy with your Wedding makes it all come together, your save the dates make sense and look amazing!
BRING YOUR PUP(S)! I absolutely love meeting your pets! They are a part of your family too and always love getting a few with them included. Just make sure you have someone there that can take them home or wait with you while taking the rest of the portraits.
BRING CLOTHING STYLE OPTIONS Bring a couple style options with you! If you want to have a few photos all dressed up in a suit and dress and then a few in blue jeans that is always a popular option for couples. I can usually always find a good place for you to change during the session too so don't worry, I got you!
SHOES Be sure to bring something you don’t mind walking in a little bit. Depending on your location and your vision for the photos make sure if you do plan on wearing heels that we stick to close locations so that you don't have walk terribly far in heels. You can also always bring slip on shoes for when moving if that works too!
WEAR SOMETHING THAT IS YOU! One the most important tips! If you don't feel comfortable in a suit or dress that is totally ok! We want you to feel confident, comfortable and most importantly reflect your personality in the photos. Be you!
